Francorchamps Motors Crowned Champions in Jeddah

The 2024 GT World Challenge Europe – Endurance Cup concluded in stunning fashion for Francorchamps Motors and the Ferrari 296 GT3. In a dramatic six-hour finale at the Jeddah circuit, the number 51 Ferrari, fielded by AF Corse – Francorchamps Motors, secured both the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles in the Pro class. Alessandro Pier Guidi and Alessio Rovera, joined for the final race by Davide Rigon, delivered a podium finish to clinch the championship.

A Triumphant Season for the Number 51 Car

The number 51 Ferrari 296 GT3 had an exceptional campaign, achieving podium finishes in three of the five races. These included key performances at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the 3 Hours of Monza, and the six-hour finale in Jeddah. The car's consistent pace and strategic excellence throughout the season underscored Francorchamps Motors’ dominance in endurance racing.

Starting from pole position in Jeddah, the number 51 car initially commanded the race, with Rovera delivering a strong opening stint. A setback during the first pit stop saw the team lose positions, but a spirited recovery followed. In the middle stages, Pier Guidi and Rigon worked tirelessly to climb back into contention. Pier Guidi’s three decisive overtakes in the final 20 minutes secured a third-place finish, sealing the championship triumph.

Challenges for the Sister Car

The number 71 Ferrari 296 GT3, also fielded by Francorchamps Motors, endured a challenging race in Jeddah. Driven by Thomas Neubauer, Vincent Abril, and David Vidales, the car struggled to find the pace needed to compete at the front. A spin in the final stages compounded their difficulties, leaving the car 21st overall and 15th in the Pro class. Despite the setback, the crew showcased determination and teamwork, embodying the spirit of Francorchamps Motors.

Celebrating Success

The victory in Jeddah marked another milestone for Francorchamps Motors and Ferrari’s 296 GT3. Alessandro Pier Guidi reflected on the achievement:

“Today we were fortunate at the end with the final Full Course Yellow, but it was also a result of great teamwork and strategy. This victory is special, and I am proud to win my third Endurance Cup title.”

Alessio Rovera added:

“The 296 GT3 was incredible all season, and we as drivers gave everything to achieve this success. I held my breath until the chequered flag, but we deserved this title.”

Davide Rigon also praised the team’s effort:

“Despite a tough start, we fought back and showed the car’s potential. This triumph is a testament to the resilience of our team.”

A Legacy of Excellence

Francorchamps Motors’ outstanding campaign, highlighted by the triumphs of the number 51 Ferrari 296 GT3, cements its position as a leader in endurance racing. The team’s achievements will be celebrated in Maranello this December at the Endurance Award Ceremony, marking the conclusion of an unforgettable season.
